Facebook: Moreton Bay Fishing Group

We host a Facebook group titled Moreton Bay Fishing Group. The Facebook group is typically used to brag about recent fish catches, advertise group events and share other knowledge or requests.

The Facebook Group is a closed group but is available to any interested party who makes a request on the Facebook site for administrator approval.

WhatsApp: Moreton Bay Fishing Group

Our WhatsApp group is available for all MBFG members and provides a great way for social connection.

Events and Trips

The MBFG has a full calendar of events See What’s On for the current Event Calendar. These are normally free for MBFG

members. Members can purchase event tickets for their family and friends.

Typical events are annual events:

  • Monthly Attacks – These are offshore or inshore tag-along group fishing trips

  • Regulars sponsored competitions such as Wynnum Marine’s ‘lucky fisho’ or the ‘protein upgrade’

  • Rainbow Beach (K'gari (Fraser) Island / Tin Can Bay) weekend

  • South Straddie (Tipplers) weekend

  • Moreton Island (Gutter Bar) weekend

  • Annual Fishing Competition Awards BBQ

  • Othe social BBQ’s for all the family at the MHBC or a local beach

Competitions and awards

Our annual competition runs from 1 st February to 31 st January each year. For full details of the competition including rules, fish categories and how to enter are on the Competition rules webpage.

  • Master Fisherman Inshore

  • Master Fisherwoman

  • Junior Master Fisherman

  • Pat Dennis sponsored Inshore Snapper Award

  • Pat Dennis sponsored Junior Inshore Snapper Award

  • Screw-up Award – awarded for poor performance on or off the water

  • Thanks for trying – a wooden spoon award

Funding and Sponsors

Our funding comes from the MBFG membership fee, raffles, the $5 screw up fines, and the occasional meat tray raffle.
